SuperNova Remote Listening Experience

Along with the early days of the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown, was also the influx of a yearning for community and immersive virtual experiences. With the release of Nova Zaii’s “B tterfl,” SuperNova was designed to not only set a calm and safe atmosphere for creativity, but also one that allowed listeners to experience Zaii’s newly released track in a new way. By blindfolding listeners, and allowing them the opportunity to create without pressure, “B tterfl” sets the soundtrack for creative inspiration and freedom.

The Process

The brief was simple— to create a unique, immersive and interactive remote listening experience. From brainstorming 32 ideas to honing into 1, we loved the idea of taking away the listener’s sense of sight, to make room for a better listening experience. With Zoom being a new online space at the time, we understood the

importance of creating online experiences where listeners felt safe to create and yet, still engaged with the music. It is in this experimental interaction, where listeners could learn more about themselves and each other in their respective journeys of creating art inspired by art.
